Perfect From-Scratch Hashbrowns, Poached Eggs (Dippy Style), Super Thick Bacon, and Juicy Grapefruit Sections

Nothing like a good breakfast. Although I would not recommend this fat infested trio for every morning meal, it is nice to eat a good tasting breakfast. We had  Perfect From-Scratch Hashbrowns, Poached Eggs (Dippy Style), Super Thick Bacon, and Juicy Grapefruit Sections.

 

PERFECT FROM-SCRATCH HASHBROWNS

INGREDIENTS:

Potatoes (About one for every person)

1 tablespoon cooking oil (for each pan)

Salt (to taste)

Pepper (to taste)

COOKING TOOLS:

Frying Pan

Grater

Spatula

Bowls

First, you need potatoes.

Then you need a grater. Use the larger size grate I am showing you here.

Peel the potatoes.

Here I am peeling potatoes

 

Grate them.

Make sure your kid plays you Jason Mraz Tunes While You Cook.

Turn on stove to medium heat

Warm oil

Spread in a thin layer in pan.

Flip over when first side is golden brown. Once second side is golden brown, remove from pan.

POACHED EGGS, DIPPY STYLE

INGREDIENTS:

Eggs

Boiling water

1 teaspoon salt

 

COOKING TOOLS:

Large Pot

Slotted Spoon

 

You start with some eggs.

Turn on stove to medium heat

Add water and salt to pot and boil.

 

Let your son take awful pictures of you.

Crack eggs right into boiling water. Let cook for three minutes.

Remove with slotted spoon or pasta ladle.

SUPER THICK BACON

INGREDIENTS:

Thick Cut Bacon

 

COOKING TOOLS:

Large Rimmed Baking Sheet

Tongs (NOT thong. Just a note to you dirty minded people)

Paper Towels

Heat Proof Container (Like a Mug)

 

I prefer the super thick cut bacon. Makes it easier to handle and cooks better.

 

 

Turn oven onto broil.

Lay out the bacon on a baking sheet. Broil, but not on the top shelf. The second one down.

 

When first side is cooked (about 5 min.) turn over and do the same to the other side.

Place bacon onto backing sheet lined with paper towels to soak up the grease.

Press paper towels on the top of the bacon to soak up the grease there.

Pour bacon grease into a heat proof container, and store in fridge for other recipes.

Your kids won't be able to wait for breakfast to be done, so you will have to feed them lemon Yoplait.

JUICY GRAPEFRUIT SECTIONS

INGREDIENTS:

Grapefruit

Sugar to Taste

 

COOKING TOOLS:

Paring Knife

Bowl

Cutting Board

When selecting grapefruits at the grocery store, make sure they are heavy. Heavy = juicy.

This is tedious, but worth it. Cut along the membranes of each grapefruit section.

Spoon out sections into a bowl.


Sugar to taste and serve. Yummy! The juice is the best part. My wife kills juice wasters.
