4 Doctors, 1 Speech Therapist, 1 Physical Therapist, and 1 Dietitian…All In One Day.

Today Lily went to her annual PWS clinic. This is where she sees all of her doctors and therapists in one visit (one loooong visit).

When we first got there, they assigned her a nurse. This is Michelle. We were very lucky to get her. She was great!

Michelle took Lily's vitals and measurements.

Then we started the waiting game. We waited...

and waited...

and waited. Good thing there were toys to play with and books to read.

While we were waiting, we used the bathroom. I thought the dual toilets were interesting. Should I wave at the person next to me? Notice the toilet on the left has the seat up. Some guy must have forgotten to put it down. Bet his wife yells at him on a regular basis (if he has a wife).

We also reunited with our Prader-Willi Syndrome friends. In this photo with Lily is Cathryn. She is 16 and despite her Prader-Willi diagnosis, she is on her basketball team and makes a lot of 3-pointers.

This is Alex. He is 12 and one of the funniest people I have ever met. Definitely a live wire. Notice that he is the same height as Lily even though she is only 7. Prader-Willi Syndrome must have stunted his growth (or Lily is super tall for her age. One or the other).

This is the newest member of our Prader-Willi Syndrome family. He is only a few weeks old.

We have to remember to thank the people that make this clinic possible. In this photo is Lynn Manning (left) who helps run the clinic and Debbie Mason (right) who is our Prader-Willi RN. I did not get a photo with Lisa Thornton, but she is the President of the Utah Prader-Willi Assoc. and none of this would be possible without her. She is simply amazing.

We finally got around to seeing the doctors. Here Lily is with Dr. Donaldson, her Endocrinologist.

This is Dr. Pfeffer her pulmonologist. We didn't get photos with her geneticist, speech therapist, psychiatrist, physical therapist, and dietitian. But we sure did meet with them all.

On the way home we stopped by Trafalga Family Fun Center and caught a 4D movie...

and miniature golfed. Here we are waiting our turn to golf. Can you see our putters?

Our last stop on the way home was at Macey's to buy ice cream cones. Yum!

We finally got home at almost 8 P.M. We walked in the house to find McCann making massive milk bubbles. It was nice to be home.

  1. I miss Utah, the PWS association and I agree…Lisa Thornton is amazing! That clinic is absolutely one of a kind! We moved to Houston excited to be a part of the Texas Children Prader-willi clinic, but I would so treasure seeing all those doctors on one day! We just visit with a dietician, doctor, and nurse.

Lily is adorable!!! She’s so grown up from when we saw and met her 4/5 yrs ago. Sarah is now 8. I’m glad Lisa forwarded this on. Wish you all the best!

    • Hey Megan,

Sorry to hear about the “downgrade” in care you have experienced in Houston. I guess not every area can have a Lisa Thornton. Hope all is well with you guys.

  2. We sure enjoyed meeting up with you both at the clinic. Cathryn had a lot of fun interacting with Lily. She talked about her all the way home. And you are so right, Lisa is truly amazing! We are really fortunate to have someone with great intelligence, drive and probably most importantly a keen sense of humor! She is the best. Have a fabulous day!

    • Yes, it was great to see you guys. Glad to see Cathryn is doing great. She looks fabulous.

P.S. I’ve corrected the spelling on her name in the post.
