How We Caught And Ate the Gingerbread Man (Ha! So Much For Running As Fast As You Can.)

Today Lily wanted to make a gingerbread man.

So we pulled out our DW (Arthur) cookie mix.

SIDE NOTE: You do know who Arthur is don't you? He is that aardvark/ ant eater thing with his own cartoon. (He's kind of like Disney's Goofy. Nobody really knows what he is.)

Anyway, his sister D.W. has a cookie mix that we bought at the store. (D.W. must stand for Dontknow Whattheheckyouare.)

Back to our story. We pulled out our D.W. cookie mix, so we could make gingerbread men. (Don't tell Lily that it is really sugar cookie mix, not gingerbread mix.)

In a bowl, we stirred the cookie mix with 1/4 cup milk and 1/2 cup melted butter.

The mix made a dough that we formed into a ball.

We flattened the dough on a floured surface.

Then we cut it with our cookie cutter.

Shhh! Don't tell Lily that our cookie cutter is really an angel...

With a little help from a knife, I was able to fix it.

We put them on a cookie sheet and put them in the oven (350 for 8 minutes).

Then, we locked all the doors...

And all the windows, so the gingerbread man could not escape. (Lily insisted that we do this. "Once he starts cooking," she said, "he comes alive and can get away.")

While we waited for the gingerbread men to cook (and kept a close eye on the oven door), we ate the extra cookie dough and...

Played with the cookie cutters.

When we pulled them out, I thought, "Those are the ugliest gingerbread men I have ever seen."

Lily watched over them, while they were cooling, so they didn't run away.

Once cooled, the kids were excited to eat them.

Brandon even made some frosting to spread on top.
